Sodium Starch Glycolate   hot

Sodium Starch Glycolate

Our customers can avail from us an assortment of Sodium Starch Glycolate that is the sodium salt of a carboxymethyl ether of starch, having a typical molecular weight of 500 000-11 000 000. Practically insoluble in water and in most organic solvents, it appears as very fine, white or off white, free flowing powder that is odorless or almost odorless.

Consisting of oval or spherical granules, 30-100 μm in diameter with some less-spherical granules ranging from 10-35 μm in diameter, it is primarily used a Disintegrant, Dissolution Aid, Suspending Agent.

The disintegration of Sodium Starch Glycolate takes place by rapid uptake of water followed by rapid and enormous swelling. Its disintegrant efficiency is unimpaired in the presence of hydrophobic excipients, such as lubricants unlike many other disintegrants. Even if the tablet compression pressure is increased, it does not appear to have an effect on the disintegration time.

Application:

  • Widely used in oral pharmaceuticals as a disintegrant in capsule and tablet formulations.
  • It is recommended to use in tablets prepared by either direct-compression or wet granulation processes.
  • Used as a suspending vehicle

  • The recommended concentration in a formulation is 2-8%, with the optimum concentration about 4% although in many cases 2% is sufficient.

Cros Carmellose Sodium

Available with us is a unique range of Cros Carmellose Sodium that is a cross linked polymer of carboxymethyl cellulose sodium and is wide in demand for its excellent drug dissolution and disintegration characteristics, and thus, helping to improve bioavailability of formulations. The cross linking of this chemical makes it an insoluble, hydrophilic, highly absorbent material, resulting in excellent swelling properties, whereas its unique fibrous nature gives it excellent water wicking capabilities.

Application:

  • It is used in oral pharmaceutical formulations as a disintegrant for Capsules, Tablets and Granules.
  • In tablet formulations, it may be used in both direct-compression and wet granulation processes.
  • When used in wet granulations, the cros carmellose sodium is best added in both the wet and dry stages of the process (intra- and extra granularly) so that the wicking and swelling ability of the disintegrant is best utilized.

Concentrations of up to 5% w/w of cros carmellose sodium may be used as a tablet disintegrant although normally 2% w/w is used in tablets prepared by direct compression and 3% w/w in tablets prepared by a wet-granulation process.

Poly Ethylene Glycol

Poly Ethylene Glycol

We offer our customers with an assortment of Poly Ethylene Glycol 400/1500/4000/6000, also called poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) or polyoxyethylene (POE), and is commercially the most important type of polyether. PEG, PEO or POE refers to an oligomer or polymer of ethylene oxide and these three names chemically synonymous.

However, historically PEG has tended to refer to oligomers and polymers with a molecular mass below 20,000 g/mol, PEO to polymers with a molecular mass above 20,000 g/mol, and POE to a polymer of any molecular mass. Also, [2] PEG and PEO are liquids or low-melting solids, depending on their molecular weights.

Clinical Uses:

Having a low toxicity [3], it is used in a variety of products as follows:

  • It is the basis of a number of laxatives (e.g. macrogol-containing products such as Movicol and polyethylene glycol 3350, or MiraLax or GlycoLax)
  • It is the basis of many skin creams, as cetomacrogol, and sexual lubricants, frequently combined with glycerin.

Poly Sorbate

We supply an array of Poly Sorbate 80/60/40/20, Simethicone that are a category of emulsifiers or oily liquids derived from PEG-ylated sorbitan (a derivative of sorbitol) esterified with fatty acids. Surfactants that are esters of plain (non-PEG-ylated) sorbitan with fatty acids are usually referred to by the name Span.

Application:

  • Used in some pharmaceuticals and food preparation.
  • Used in cosmetics to solubilize essential oils into water-based products.
